Style Watch: sheer clothing

So I was downtown with Chelsi, browsing through stores busily to find a party top. From my search, I discovered that one of the popular trends for this Summer vaca will be the Sheer trend. Another thing I discovered was this amazing censor striped, red top in the Bang Bang store ;).
(I will post a picture of it later:)).

The history:
Sheer or transparent clothing is a repeating trend for over the years 2006, 2009 and now 2010. The trend is an indirect and subtle approach to expose a woman's curves without revealing too much skin directly. Thus, the trend is seen as very sensual yet still done in an elegant manner. It has been featured in the Summer/ Spring 2010 collections of Christian Dior, Fendi, Dolce and Gabbana, Preen, Rochas and more.

How it is worn: 

The trend is mainly seen worn in dark colours such a black, purple and navy blue, but don't be fooled because it comes in a variety of bright colours as well (such as turquoise and red).
It is also comes in many different textiles such as lace, netted materials, cotton, satin and more.
It is always best to pair your sheer article of clothing with a solid coloured item (such as black skinnies or a plain-red, pencil skirt).
