Lydia Davis writes about cows (too)
Reading the newest item to my addiction list- a Nylon magazine- I came accross an article about an author, Lydia Davis, who found a fascination for cows, after they became her neighbours in a cozy field next door to her upstate New York house.
Obviously, I laughed out so loud, like (capital) LOL, when I saw this article because I, too, had a deep interest in cows once upon a time and wrote a short play called "How Now Brown Cow," based on this interest.
Davis explained that she thinks the drama of cows life is really the relationship between them and the owner. Again (capital) LOL. The plot of my play revolved around the cows protesting against cow slaughtering done by the humans and as a result, they devised a plan called the "11th hour" which was that on the 11th of November, 2011 at 11a.m. all the cows would fart in order to release enough methane gas to destroy the ozone layer to wipe out the human race. So fuck the Mayans and Nostradamus, because that is the explaination for 2012!
However, don't start spending all of your money yet due to animal spirits because 2012 never happened. Turns out that the plan never worked out because each country had a different time zone. Oh well!
Anyways I thought I should add some creativity to your day and promote teh fact that many people find cows fascinating :). In addition to Lydia Davis' mooful novel, she also wrote a tiny piece on ladybugs.
xoxo,
be fashionlee;)
