One thing I love about his launches is the atmosphere. The music is always great which means homeboy has some serious good taste and everyone is always mingling and enjoying themselves which certainly reflect the attitude and spirit behind Nick's line.
AND as usual an interview was conducted!
INTERVIEW TIME
Me: What was your goal for this collection?
Nick: My main goal was to step out of being labelled as only a t-shirt designer, because I want Niq Fashion to be known as a brand introducing new things all the time which is why the shorts were a big thing for this collection. I also wanted everything to be produced in Trinidad and show that you can produce high quality goods that can compete internationally.
Me: What was your inspiration?
Nick: My mood helps me to conceptualize ideas. For this collection, less bright colours were used because I wanted to keep that street style element and also maintain the brand as something that is effortless to wear. You can either dress it up or dress it down, but most of all, produce clothes that make you feel good.
Me:What is next for NIQ Fashion?
Nick: First off, I want to publicize the summer collection. I would love to eventually see my brand in Barbados and Jamaica but the main goal is to make it the brand have the complete package.
Me: Give me the deets on where I could purchase your stuff?
Nick: You can purchase t-shirts and shorts at William Duds in Woodbrook on Murray Street. For guys, t-shirts are either $165 or $185TT and shorts are $350. For girls, it is $165 for a v-neck, $185 for a tank, $195 for a crop tops and $245 - $365 for shorts.
