Macrame and Crochet

You should know that Macrame and Crochet are two very popular trends for Spring/ Summer 2011. And you must know how to differentiate the two:

Simple! I shall do it by definition first:
Macrame- is a form of textile-making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting, usually in a geometrical pattern.

Crochet- is a process of creating fabric from yarn or thread by interlocking and looping thread with a hooked needle

Then, secondly let me hit you with the visual:

Macrame
Gucci

Malandrino's macrame sandals

Crochet
Ferragamo

Third option:
There are no more options for me to describe the difference between the two besides that you go and learn the art forms yourself.

Hopefully this two/ three step explaination of the two styles was very educational :)

MK

This Spring 2011 collection, created by Mary Katrantzou, was inspired by the architectural designs and interiors of building which was vivid in the construction and digital prints of her designs. It was a beautiful merge of the design world- interior, fashion, architectural and metalwork.

"With this collection, I wanted to put the room on the woman, rather than the woman in the room," said Katrantzou after the show.

And she certainly did.

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Mr. Jacobs had a very upbeat and colourful collection for Spring 2011, however that was not surprising at all. What was surprising to me was the amount of stripes I saw running horizontally across his collection. I am evening sensing that Stripes, along with Metallics and Fringing, is going to be big and popular trend for Spring 2011.

Note: Stripes were seen in Etro's Spring R-T-W collection as well.

Learn to let go

After reviewing some of the Spring fashion shows, I recognized that a few designers were still carrying on some Fall trends in their Spring collections. One of the major whoops that I thought should not be in a Spring collection is socks in heels! I personally don't find the combination very appealing unless it is used with a pair of  boots and not some pair of strappy heels. However, Charlotte Ronson thought otherwise as she maintained this Fall trend for her Spring 2011 R-T-W collection.

Although I dislike the discussed trend, it worked well for these two particular ensembles.

Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg used a range of colours for her Spring 2011 R-T-W* collection in a very subtle way so your eyes weren't burning from bright colours. The overall feel of the collection was very retro, which I personally liked a lot, and I absolutely loved all the pairs of circular sunglasses that flooded the runway. I think my favourite pair has to be the aviator-like one worn in the 3rd ensemble below.
I also spotted a few trends that have come-and-gone such as the fringe trend on the blue and white bag in the 4th ensemble below.
In addition, I saw a few metallic pieces in this collection which I also spotted in Alexander Wang's show... is it going to be a possible trend for next year Spring? I hope.

Statement Pieces

Today, I browsed through a few collections, once again, and I stumbled upon Vivienne Tam's Spring 2011 R-T-W collection. I was not a fan of her entire collection, however I did see a few ensembles here and there that I really liked such as the crocheted baby doll dress worn by the model, Stephanie Rad, but it was her accessories used that caught my attention. They were all statement pieces!
Which statement jewelry piece do you like best? Mine is the heart.

Trend Spotter

Despite all of these interests in Fall clothing, we are still wearing Summer clothes which means that there are trends to be spotted. Spotted! My dearest Chelsi sporting the striped trend for Summer 2010.

P.S. I love that she used a striped belt on a striped dress ;)

Bandows like Bunnies!

Exit Magazine has Alisa Matviychuk rocking some of the Spring/ Summer trends for 2010. The infamous bunny ears, ruffles, denim on denim and hot shorts for Summer. I personally enjoyed this editorial a lot, I loved the playfulness that it exerted.

My All Black Affair

Ladies I could not help myself. The darkness of him pressed against my skin, hugging my every curve was arousing beyond imagination. It was as though an orgasm struck my body because it felt so damn good to be looking sexy in my little BLACK dress. Sigh, unfortunately that was only a dream and the "he" that I was referring to is Nicola Finetti's beautiful black minis that he designed for RAFW this Spring.

Yes you pervs, I was indeed talking about dresses (And not someone else) lol.
P.S. Katalyst's "Black and White Affair" was amazing this weekend!! But somehow I feel I'm not the one to judge parties because I have fun at every party lol.
