Gathering of the Tribes

Początek nowego roku przynosi nam kolejną imprezę z iście antropologicznym podtekstem. Po rewelacyjnym festiwalu tatuażu tradycyjnego w Cobh z ofertą rozszerzoną przychodzi Gathering of the Tribes (nazwa chwytliwa :). W programie miłośnik tradycji znajdzie hand-tapping w wykonaniu ekipy Folk Tattoo Space z Indonezji, pokaz tkactwa, wystawa zdjęć Larsa Krutaka, plus tradycyjny poczęstunek.

Ravana Tattoo - Italy, Toxic Tattoo Park - Indonesia, Babakhin Tattoo - Russia, Old Time Tattoo - UK, Folk Tattoo Space - Indonesia, Bingo Pijama Tattoo - UK, 71st Skin Slavery - Malaysia, Maotattoo Studio - Malaysia, Apocaript Tattoo - Japan, Jesselton Tattoo - Malaysia,  Blackcat Tattoo Studio - Malaysia, Circus Tattoos – Italy, Mandala Tattoo & Piercing – Malaysia, Toltech Tattoo Studio – UK, Borneo Art Tattoo - Malaysia, TNT Tattoos – Italy, Jay Tattoo - Malaysia, Sundance Tattoo Studio - Italy, Pigzy Art Tattoo Studio - Malaysia, Southtribe Tinta Tattoo Studio – Philippines, Soul Rebel Studio – Malaysia, Classie Tattoo - Malaysia.

Oetzi the Iceman, a unique archaeological find, now preserved in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology,  www.iceman.it, that work in collaboration with  EURAC  Institute for Mummies and the Iceman,  which promotes international research specializes exclusively in studies of mummies.
The mummy dates back to a period between 3300 and 3200 BC has been preserved because of the glacier special climatic conditions, with it are preserved its fascinating tattoos, some of which are visible only through infrared.
Ötzi's tattoos are not figurative, these lines and crosses are located in parts of the body where the man had problems with arthritis.
It can therefore safely say that this is the first tattoo medical history of man.

For thousand years people have practiced tattooing, not only to beautify themselves but to please the spirits which inhabit their world and provide charms against danger.

Anthropologist Dr. Lars Krutak has traveled the globe, meeting indigenous people to learn about their unique tattoos and the magical beliefs behind them.

The striking photographic images presented in convention tell the story of these largely vanishing art forms and the tribal beliefs associated with them before they disappear from view.

LONDON TATTOO CONVENTION

Niespełna tydzień tydzień dzieli mnie od wylotu do Wielkiej Brytanii na London Tattoo Convention. Zapowiada się niesamowita impreza, zaczynam odliczanie:) W dodatku uzbierała się fajna ekipa znajomych. Zdjęcia i  wideo po powrocie. Strona konwentu http://www.thelondontattooconvention.com/

Rites of Passage Tattoo Convention

Dziś otrzymałem więcej informacji o imprezie, której tytuł i idea nawiązuje do terminu antropologicznego "Obrzęd przejścia".

Rites of Passage is a festival that celebrates creativity as a means to connect. By celebrating the art of tattoo, music, visual art and environmental awareness, we're creating a dynamic, shared space.

Today, the reasons people get tattooed are as numerous and diverse as the tattoos themselves: to commemorate loved ones, to celebrate milestones, for sheer aesthetic pleasure...but beyond this western, modern interpretation of the ancient artform there lies an inherent spirituality - the ceremonial marking of the skin to signify a Rite of Passage has been an integral part of tribal life since our ancestors first started enacting rituals.

The Rites of Passage Festival aims to take you on a journey to lands forgotten and cultures undiscovered to re-explore the real reason people get tattooed in both the modern and ancient world. In doing so, it celebrates not only the creative energy that links us to ourselves and each other as a modern tribe - it enables us to explore how we can reconnect with our natural environment in the same respectful ways as our ancestors, and re-establish the balance our Earth needs for its survival while we go about living our modern lives.

The Rites of Passage Festival is aiming to be as eco-friendly as possible, showcasing everything from organic locally grown produce to eco-friendly tattoo supplies. It's our firm belief that it's possible to tread lightly without missing out on any of the indulgences we've come to depend on in our lives - and it's for this reason that 100% of the profits made from the festival will go towards buying old growth forest and/or agricultural land, which will be replanted with native rainforest.

We also believe that by fostering a deeper sense of community we'll be on our way to a more sustainable future - so we're celebrating Australia's traditional landowners and showing our respect to the rich cultural diversity that forms the rich, dynamic fabric of this country. The Rites of Passage Festival is an all-inclusive event because we realise that only a united movement can propel our society forward towards positive change.

Polinezja Sopocka

The Hooked Friends na Tattoo Konwent w Gdańsku 2010

Dalsza część fotorelacji z Tattoo Konwent w Gdańsku 2010. Tym razem występ The Hooked Friends.
